The Naked Reading Returns

I promised my readers, listeners and viewers I’d do a book and DVD signing at Hay and then let you down. I’m sorry; I wasn’t allowed to do anything on site, as this is reserved for published authors, and left too little time to arrange a suitable venue off site. This means I now have 20 copies of Blackout and a similar number of my naked reading DVD sitting in my house. I’d love to sell these as a set to anyone who wants both and can post them straight away, so unlike Blurb where you can wait up to 3 weeks for your order to arrive – I promise delivery in 3-5 days. To make it even more appealing I’ll throw in online access to the naked reading so you can watch before the DVD arrives. The price, including postage and packaging, is just £20.

For those who missed the Naked Reading when this was first released I’m happy to provide some extra footage, including 8 minutes of me talking about my motivations and what I hoped to achieve. Let me know if this adds anything to your understanding and enjoyment.

Please note this footage was filmed on a hand-held so is not the same quality as the actual reading, although you do get some different shots and a few ‘edited’ close-ups by way of compensation. The naked reading is available to buy on DVD or to watch on-line if you’re interested.

After must discussion and deliberation I feel the reading should be public once again so from today (August 1st, 2010) my first Naked Reading video is back online. It was pulled after 2 months as I needed time to reflect on the responses from a significant number of the 3500+ viewers who watched this first time round, and is back up in the expectation it may interest a few more people in my writing.

I appreciate some of you who paid to watch this online could be disappointed; but hope you understand. To others who are experiencing this for the first time and want to make sure you have a permanent copy (I could pull this again), I’m happy to confirm you can still buy the Naked Reading DVD for a very reasonable £10 (£7.50 + £2.50 P&P).

Naked Reading Removal

On 1 April I will remove the first Naked Reading. By this time it will have been online for 2 months and viewed over 5000 times by around 3500 people, including some I know who have repeatedly indulged.

You have 3 days left to watch this reading, after which it will only be available on request to selected users or to purchase as a download or on DVD.

Naked Reading Sponsorship

Followers on Twitter and Facebook will know I’m seeking a sponsor for my next Naked Reading; which I need if I want to avoid charging people to watch and in so doing exclude many of my fans.

The motivation is simple, I’d love to make these readings freely available, especially as I’m a new writer and need to build my fan base; but I simply can’t afford to fund these myself. Until I sell a few more books the cost of producing quality recordings is beyond my current resources and means I can only continue my naked readings by calling on several very good friends and cashing in my stock of personal favours.

It was therefore AMAZING to receive an email a few days ago from a global brand suggesting their product would look great in my videos. I must say I agree with them, and that’s not because I want them on board; but because the products look fabulous – and you know just how much this blonde loves fabulous items!  On that note, I’m still waiting for calls from Kurt Geiger and Tiffany following my last recommendations, so if you know anyone in their marketing departments give them a poke for me.

Let’s hope the Head Office people for this latest European contact agree I’m worth it and I can announce a very welcome and generous sponsorship deal in the coming weeks. Although, if you’re a Welsh company and would like your product featured in a forthcoming reading please don’t be put off approaching – I’m sure I can accommodate more than one sponsor.

How much would you pay to see the naked reading?

The first naked reading will shortly pass 10,000 views; but was this worth doing? The publicity generated and your comments has been extremely positive; but the cost is also very high. As I’m not selling enough books to pay the filming or video hosting costs, I’m thinking of charging to view future readings. If I did, would you pay or simply not watch? Your response determines both if and when the next reading will be done.
